Man Arrested After Babysitter Finds Him Hiding Under Bed in Kansas Home
Great Bend, Kan. (KSNW) — A 27-year-old man has been arrested after a Kansas babysitter discovered him hiding under a child’s bed, according to police.
Disturbing Discovery
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office reported that a babysitter at a home near Great Bend was putting the children to bed when one of them claimed there was a "monster" under their bed.
Attempting to reassure the child, the babysitter looked underneath—only to come face-to-face with a man hiding there, authorities said. A confrontation allegedly ensued, resulting in the babysitter and a child being knocked over.
Suspect Flees the Scene
Before deputies could arrive, the man fled the home, according to the sheriff’s office.
Search and Arrest
Authorities continued searching for the suspect throughout the night. By morning, he was located near the residence once again. After a short foot chase, deputies were able to take him into custody.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
The 27-year-old has been booked into the Barton County Jail and is facing multiple serious charges, including:

He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
